2023 WRAP UP: PEOPLE EDITION

It's been a big year in the Planks universe so we wanted to tell you all about it. Read on to discover some of the exciting things that happened in the Planks community in 2023.

OUR ATHLETES

In January, 18-year-old Kirsty Muir, also known as the Fresh Princess of Big Air, earned her X Games debut in Women's Ski Big Air. Stomping her first double cork 1620, she secured a historic moment alongside Megan Oldham, who landed the first women's triple cork. Kirsty then scored her first X Games bronze medal in Women's Ski Big Air and, as an alternate the next day, added another bronze in Women's Ski Slopestyle. The sky is the limit for Kirsty!

Bringing it in for the guys, Mathieu Dufresne was awarded "Breakthrough Skier of the Year" at the 2023 Newschoolers Awards in February, for turning heads with effortless style and killer street part in MTL2. We’re looking forward to more of his jaw-dropping projects from this winter.

SNOWCAMP PARTNERSHIP

We are proud partners of Snow Camp, a charity that's been supporting young people's futures and wellbeing through skiing since 2003. This year, Planks Manchester HQ has been joined by Snow Camp apprentice, Rumai, who you may have seen popping up on our website and across socials. We've been thrilled to have Rumai on board, bringing her passion for TikTok with an abundance of creativity and enthusiasm for the ski industry.

THE VAL D'ISERE SHOP

Our Val d'Isere shop is officially open for the season! The world's smallest "mega store" is stocked floor to ceiling with Planks' finest ski wear, gloves, streetwear and accessories. So if you're lucky enough to be in Val this season, pop in and say hey. Biggie the Planks dog will more than likely be there to greet you, and if he doesn't lick your face, Jim will!

EARLY SEASON EVENTS

We were kept very busy pre-season, attending some amazing events in both the UK and France, like the London Snow Show, the High Five Festival in Annecy, and La Grande Première in Val Thorens. As part of the UK's National Snow Week, we also had the privilege of talking all things Planks with the help of Ski Sunday’s Ed Leigh.

MORE TO COME

We're stoked to see what the rest of the season holds, and can't wait to meet a load of you along the way. Stay tuned on our socials & email to keep up to date with all things Planks people.

Peace out 2023!

Love, the Planks team
