Real Skifi - Skiing with Tractors

Skiing and tractors, an unusual combination right? But if anyone was going to make it work, it had to be Real Skifi. Once again, skiing's creative powerhouse has broken the internet with a minefield of mind-benders. 🤯

"Last winter the folks at Valtra asked us to join them in celebrating the launch of their new G series tractors. They were curious if we could do some tricks with, over and off the tractors. They pretty much said we could do whatever we want." - Real Skifi

BEHIND THE PROJECT

We caught up with Real Skifi's Juho Kilkki to find out more behind the project.

How did you come to collaborate with a tractor brand?

"Last December we simply received an email from them asking if we could do a collaboration of some sort. Launching a whole new line of tractors was and is a pretty big deal for the brand. So they were willing to think outside the box and go all-in with their marketing campaigns and that's where we fit in. It all really happened thanks to this one guy Sam Hardy who works for Valtra as a marketing man of some sort. He's a skier himself, he knew us and it was he who came up with the idea."

If you had to pick one, what is your favourite shot from the whole project and why?

"That's a tough one! The water skiing scene is one of the most absurd things I've ever seen with my own eyes haha. We woke up at 4am on a Saturday morning to get there before traffic. The sunrise was beautiful and the calm waters were magical. Overall the spot was just so perfect for it and the tractor with the beam was such a crazy sight. On the other hand, I'm probably most proud of the ender where I jump over the tractor. It took a huge amount of preparation to get ready for it but it was a one-and-done type of deal in the end. The plan was to actually land on the trailer, but I jumped over it instead and landed dead flat. The impact left my heels sore for the rest of the winter. At each spot after that I made sure that the landing was soft enough!"

Have you got any more exciting collaborations in mind for this winter?

"Next winter is still a bit of a mystery for us, but we'll be checking our emails for the next great opportunity like this haha!"
