What does POW stand for?

POW stands for Protect Our Winters.


Who are POW?

POW are a collection of concerned pro athletes, individuals, resorts, brands, scientists and passionate outdoor enthusiasts. They aim to give a voice to the outdoor sports community around the negative impact of climate change.


Who founded POW?

Founded in 2007 by professional snowboarder Jeremy Jones, they are a community of athletes, scientists, creatives and business leaders, advancing non-partisan policies that protect our world today and for future generations.


What do POW do? 

“We help passionate outdoor people protect the places and lifestyles they love from climate change.”


What is POW’s goal?

To achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, by embracing renewable energy and stop fossil fuel extraction on our public lands.


What are POW’s key principles?

You – Make changes to reduce our own carbon footprint.

Others – Influence others to take action, as we can’t change the world on our own.

Companies – Calling on all companies to commit to a low-carbon future.

Money – Invest responsibly, tell your bank to invest in sustainable companies and avoid high-carbon assets.


Is POW only UK-based?

No, POW has chapters across Europe and the rest of the world.

Canada, France, Austria, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, New Zealand, Australia, Japan 


Here at Planks Clothing, we share POW’s goals of becoming a carbon-neutral society and strive to minimise our carbon footprint as a business. From using recycled plastic bottles in our clothing to streamlining our supply chain. We commit to working hard to raise the profile of POW and devise initiatives to support them financially.
