Enjoy Earth Day

As today is Earth Day, we wanted to take some time to celebrate what Mother Earth has given us all. If the current global lockdown has taught us anything, more than ever we are appreciating the wonders of our world that we so often take for granted. As far as we know, we are the only planet in our entire solar system that can support life, certainly the only planet fit for skiing lifeforms, so we’d better look after it!

We are all in this together, surfing a rad ball of rock around the sun every year. So, no matter how big or small, we can all do something to protect and preserve the planet we love. Producing skiwear is not the most eco-friendly industries in the world, but we are doing everything within our power to lessen our impact on Mother Earth. It’s all about us coming together as one, and it’s not about being perfect. Do what you can, when millions make smaller changes, this is when the big changes happen.

What Are We Doing to #BeMoreFriendly?

Planks is committed to being more friendly to the people and planet we love. We are constantly evolving our products and processes to lessen our environmental impact, whilst continuing to support and give back to the skiing community.

What Can You Do as a Skier to #BeMoreFriendly?

Skiing isn’t the most environmentally friendly sport in the world, which is ironic, as more than most sports it desperately depends on a stable climate. Many of us fly out to ski resorts every year for example, but there are small steps we can take as skiers to lessen our environmental impact collectively.

How Can You #BeMoreFriendly Everyday?

As much as we’d love to be, we can’t be skiers for 24 hours every 365 days of the year. So, for that reason our in house eco-guru, Clemence Hope, has put together some everyday Be More Friendly tips for you all.

"The key is to not be too hard on yourself or think this needs to cost the earth – quite the opposite right, save Mother Earth. Remember to start where you are, use what you already have and do what you can. Then once you can do more, do it!"

How Do You Care for Old Outerwear?

If your ski jacket or pants are starting to look a little bit worse for wear, don’t worry this is not the end. Overtime the waterproof coating of your jacket can become damaged, causing your jacket to absorb water instead of repelling it, so washing and re-waterproofing is key to keeping your favourite jacket alive. We are here to show you the ropes and the soaps, ka-boom-ching!

Thank you for everything Planet Earth! ✌️

Peace, love & powder turns,

Planks Clothing
