A 1st time for everything!

It’s always a strange feeling when one ski season finishes and the next is a couple of months away and you have to find different things to do. All I can say is thank goodness for surfboards, skateboards, hockey sticks and school! I have just arrived back in Perth, Western Australia after spending the winter in Breckenridge, Colorado. It was a big season of 1st’s for me. It snowed and snowed and it was the 1st time that I got to ski real powder on powder skis – wow it was so much fun ripping amongst those trees. Aspen/Buttermilk is only a couple of hours away in the car so I went there for the 1st time. It just so happened to be the week of the X Games. I got to do half pipe sled laps for the 1st time as I practiced to forerun the Men’s Superpipe Final. You lap so quickly it’s like a whole day in the pipe in 2 hours. Meeting Henrik and getting on TV in the athlete lounge were also memorable 1st's. Thanks guys you are awesome 1st sponsors to have! Did a comp where the prizes were big boxes of sweets that was a 1st – it took me 3 weeks to eat all those sweets. It was the 1st time I’ve made my lollies last that long. photo1 At the end of the season I competed in my 1st USASA Nationals and got to wear a real olympic gold medal for the 1st time. It was so heavy. There is one more 1st and it is probably the most important 1st for me if I want to be a freestyle skier. It was the 1st season I really learnt to grab all my spins in all directions. It took a while but it finally happened. I’m so pleased. (So is my coach, it was doing his head in with my inability to grab - haha). [caption id="attachment_1487" align="alignnone" width="564"]Finding my skis!! Finding my skis!![/caption]
